How often have you come across a Rs. 40 lakh ($100,000) silk saree?Chennai Silks, a textile unit has come up with one
of its kind and it is seeking an unmistakable entry into the Guinness Book of World Records for being the most unique and expensive saree.
The exceptionally stunning saree is meticulously woven with 12 precious stones and metals to depict 11 of Raja Ravi Verma's popular paintings. Explicitly projected is'Lady Musicians', one of the painter's very famous works that displays women belonging to diverse cultural backgrounds.
Besides, the border of the saree pictures 10 other paintings of the artist that pays tribute to 20th century artist.
The best part of the saree being that the women in the paintings are intricately hand-woven and beautified with jewels of gold, diamond, platinum, silver, ruby, emerald, yellow sapphire, sapphire, cat's eye, topaz, pearl and corals.
Already in the Limca Book of Records, this 40 lakh saree will be the first silk saree that required the use of 7,440 jacquard hooks and 66,794 cards during the weaving process. Moreover, a group of consummate workers took nearly 4,680 hours

Jeweler Martin Katz and dressmaker Renee Strauss teamed up to create the most expensive wedding dress on record, featuring a stunning 150 carats worth of diamonds laced throughout the dress. The veil that is shown in the picture worn with the dress does sparkle, but it does not feature diamonds. Instead, the veil has some pretty rhinestones. But we figure, if you’re doing to drop $12 million on a dress, why not just have someone custom create a matching, diamond-laced veil? And while you’re at it, get some fancy diamond-studded shoes to add to the bling factor!
The dress hasn’t yet been sold, so if you’ve got your eye on it (as well as the $12 mil), Strauss and Katz would be more than willing to discuss a sale. Unlike other wedding dresses, this one will still have a high resale value after the wedding.

The suit is a one-off creation made from the finest fabrics in the world and has taken in excess of 80 hours to complete with over 5,000 individual stitches equating to £14 per stitch. It has taken more than 80 hours and 5,000 individual stitches to make it - equivalent to £14 per stitch. The materials used include vicuña, a rare wild South American animal related to the camel which only produces enough wool for shearing every three years. Another is qiviuk, the world's most expensive wool, gathered from the Arctic muskox. When blended with pashmina from the high mountain plateaus of the Himalayas they create Vanquish II, one of the world's most luxurious cloths. The addition of nine 18-carat gold and pave set diamond buttons completes the suit. Designer Alexander Amosu said the economic crisis had not completely stopped the demand for designer fashion.

 Japan offered up a million dollar cake. This year's cake at the Takashimaya department store in Osaka is not quite as pricey, but is still nothing to sneeze at. The 14-inch high cake is studded with about 100 diamonds totaling 50 carats. The cake itself has a square chocolate base and a chocolate sculpture of some kind on top that makes it look like a showpiece - which, of course, it is.
The cake is priced at $848,600 or 100 million yen, but a spokesperson for the store said that the value of all the diamonds on the cake is much higher than its price tag. She also suggested that "it would be ideal if a man were to buy it as a present for his wife."

A Japanese department store, The Takashimaya's Nihombashi store in Tokyo is offering a diamond studded Christmas tree for $1.8 million, according to AFP. A Christmas tree with 400 diamonds sourced from southern Africa and Australia weigh100 carats.
